Scarves Dot Net Tree

Here at Scarves Dot Net, the lights are sparkling, paper snowflakes are falling, and the Scarves Dot Net Xmas tree is shining brightly. We are most definitely in the holiday spirit, and in true SDN fashion, we bedecked our little holiday tree with our favorite decor — scarves!

If you’re seeking unique and colorful inspiration for your own Douglas-fir, read on for instructions on how to make DIY scarf garland for a scarf-decorated tree.

What you need to make scarf garland:

All you need is scarves and scissors. We used these inexpensive solid colored pashminas to make knotted garland and braided garland. Read on for instructions!

How to make knotted scarf garland:

  1. Cut your scarf into strips that are thin enough to knot. Garland of varying widths looks great on the tree!
  2. Knot the scarf strips so they look like chains. Knot some closely together and some farther apart for an eclectic mix.
  3. Voila!

How to make braided scarf garland:

  1. Cut a scarf into three strips, but don’t cut all the way to the end. Leave the strips connected.
  2. Tie a knot where you wish to start braiding.
  3. Braid the three strips. It’s helpful to ask a friend to hold the scarf while you braid.
  4. Voila!

Decorating your scarf tree:

Now that you have your scarf garland made, it’s time to start decorating your tree!

Decorating scarf tree

It’s easiest to add the garland first before any other ornaments. Begin wrapping it around that tree! We started at the top and worked our way down.

When you reach the end of one strip of garland, connect the next by knotting the two strips together.

Now, on to adding ornaments:

We chose to use pink, purple, and silver ornaments to match Scarves Dot Net!

The Scarves Dot Net tree is topped off with a big scarf bow. To make this, simply tie a scarf in a bow, use a thin and sturdy object like a pencil to keep the sides of the bow standing up, and add it to the top of your tree.

Oh, and do you know what makes a perfect tree skirt? A scarf, of course!
